Linda wondering" where is everyone".
We arrived in Vietnam at an unfortunate time, weather wise. We had planned to start in the North and make our way down to the South but these plans had to be abandoned when the middle of Vietnam was completely flooded. We met fellow travellers who had to wade through neck deep water to get to their hotels. Thousands of crocodiles also escaped from crocodile farms and were at large. We changed our plans, skipped the middle of Vietnam, and flew to Saigon.

We could not go to Cambodia until a certain date and we did not want to stay in Saigon until then so we decided to visit Nha Trang which is a beach resort in Southern Vietnam. The evening we arrived there we saw a lot of people on beach playing volley ball etc. The weather next day was wet so we assumed that was the reason for the lack of people on the beach. We found a very nice microbrewery/restaurant on the beach called the Louisiana Bar so we went there for our breakfast. The beach directly in front of the bar had sunshades of the type you see in Carribean resorts, i.e. a stout trunk sunk

into the sand and a shade made of palm leaves. Quite substantial structures so we were intrigued when we saw Louisiana staff appear with shovels etc and start to dig some of them up. Turns out Nha Trang was expecting a storm with winds of up to 120 KMH.

As it turned out the storm was a bit of a non event for ourselves. Our hotel was set back from the beach so we never heard a thing. The beach front was hit badly but only during the nights. We spent the days sitting in the Louisiana drinking and eating, with a front row seat watching the winds and the waves. It was very relaxing in fact. A bonus was that we finally got to wear the raincoats that we had been carrying around with us. To date, this is the only time we had use for them. The biggest danger was from coconuts, of which a number had fallen from the trees. One of them impacting on your head could really disrupt your holiday plans.
