Cheerful owner of floating cafe..
We went on a couple of trips to the Mekong Delta, which is one of the largest water systems in the world. It was even more so given that the flooding in the middle of Vietnam was draining into the delta. Huge amounts of debris in the water caused problems for the boats. On one occassion we were tootling along when for no reason the engine cut out. I looked back to the skipper to see that he was no longer there. This was worrying as there were boats coming downstream towards us. However, after a few minutes he clambered back over the side after having cleared the propeller. This happened two more times before we got to our destination. This made for an interesting trip.

Two of us with two large rucksacks squeezed unto the back of a carriage attached to the back of a racing bicycle, being pedelled by a middle aged man. We were so relieved that he did not have a heart attack we gave him a big tip.
