Hoan Kiem Lake at night So far, the walking street around the Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake) has been operated for 10 weeks. 2.5 months is not a long time but many people have begun to have a habit of looking forward to the weekend to be immersed in this worth-living space.
When Hanoi decided to expand more 16 streets around the Hoan Kiem Lake, many people did not believe that the space would attract people because everyone got accustomed to the hustle and bustle of the streets around the lake in many years with a lot of passengers and vehicles, and it gets crowded and more crowded at the weekend. The crowded, bustling and noisy scene seemed to be a familiar thing to the people of Hanoi.
Then, curious people flow into the walking streets around the Hoan Kiem Lake very crowded on the first day opening. Since then, every weekend, everyone is delighted to come here regularly to relax as a habit, from children, to the young men and women, adults, the elderly and tourists. At first, most of them came here because of curiosity but then, the space was so attractive to the people because of too many special reasons. For
many people in Hanoi, walking to the walking street every weekend seems to be a habit hard to give up.
1. A surprising open space Looking around Hanoi city, in addition to some parks, it's hard to get a space large enough to have fun, sing and learn the cultural values. Apparently, Hanoi is so narrow, small, noisy and dusty with vehicles and crowds in the minds of many people.
Since the walking street was operated, an airy, fresh and open space appeared. People come here to relax, to enjoy a fresh weekend in the heart of the capital. Everything seems to slow down, nobody gushy, noisy or intending to disturb others.
2. Being back to childhood with traditional games Merely with some "props" such as rope, a few sticks or pebbles..., the traditional games such as jumping with rope, hit ball, tug ... held by the My Hanoi Club from 16-20 PM every Saturday and Sunday on the walking street are so strangely attractive.
It’s so easy to see many girls and boys laughing at every beat of the rope, many adults even the foreign tourists sitting on the tiled courtyard to play
the game of ball and bamboo stick, or the middle-aged people being busy count the pebbles ….
Once participating into the game, the players seem to forget both time and space. Everyone can be back to their childhood that was so cheerful, innocent to forget all everyday worries.
Not only bring great experience, folk game is the bridge linking tourists and the people of Hanoi. After participating in jumping rope game, Mr. David Tay (47 years old, from Singapore) said that: "The traditional folk games are so interesting and they have ability to connect people in the community. I feel that people in Hanoi are very friendly, hospitable and so close. "
3. Enjoy a walk For years, the roads around the Hoan Kiem Lake are so crowded and busy with people and vehicles. That’s why it makes people so excited to enjoy a new space in 3 days per week with only walking pedestrians.
Because, in Hanoi, there are the things, the smell, the sights that could only be felt when we walk so slow and so long. That is the Hoan Kiem Lake, and Ngoc Son Temple, curving The Huc bridge; the trees
reflected in the clean water, the old houses, the old cafes, roadside teahouses ...
Still something that are familiar, but only when you leave your vehicle, then walk, watch and sniff, touch it, sip it, you could feel all the essence of Hanoi.
4. Enjoy street music Street music is always a kind of street art which is fascinating to the audiences. In Hanoi, not many thing that makes people feel friendly and attractive like music from a full orchestra playing on the street.
Everyone stand around as if to "swallow" each note of music. People sway, sing along, dance passionately with each tune.
Now it is so easy to enjoy street music in many corners, streets - unlike before, if we want to enjoy street music, we have to wait until evening in the Ta Hien, Luong Ngoc Quyen, Dao Duy Tu street.
5. Enjoy running, skateboarding ... Previously, the youth could only practice hip-hop, play skateboarding, skating, scooter, balance wheel in a small space like the Ly Thai To garden, now there's a large street for them to do whatever they want.
Just choose the time smartly (usually in the
morning), young people can freely run and play in an extremely spacious place.
