after leaving ho chi minh city & knowing we were heading to the capital of nam it was a surprise that hanoi wasnt half the city ho chi minh was. it was a lot nicer, nice streets & nice shop fronts & it was a lot more chilled out & had none of the big building you would expect to find in a city.

the highlight of the part of the trip was a 3 day tour to ha long bay, ha long bay is a group of 1,996 small rock islands that spreads for as far as you can see. it was about a 3 hour drive to a coastal town where we went out to sea on a barge, we spent the next few days living on the barge. nice food, plenty of beers & good craic! the place was amazing, when you looked around you and all you could see was small islands it was quite something, add in some kayakkiing, swimming in the chinesse sea & drinking the drinking the local home made rum & it was safe to say the trip to hanoi was definitly worth while.
