I have now been working at the hospital for 2 weeks, and it is not at all what I expected. It has actually been kind of a let down. Although I was told I would be teaching English, our job consists of playing with the kids. But there are not enough children, and the ones that are there are either too young or too sick. On a typical day we are 8 volunteers who sit and look at three 4 year old kids who are sitting and drawing with their parents. The main problem is that we cannot communicate with them, neither the kids or the parents, and it feels strange to just sit and stare at a kid who is playing with his mother. So I have asked our coordinator to arrange a meeting with the director of the hospital so we can get organized. Hopefully we will get somewhere with that. Some of the other girls have started changing to other projects, but I think its stupid to just give up. Although the kids are happy when we're there, it feels like we could be doing something alot more useful with our time.

Don't give up! They need you, and even if you just play with them or are with them, it might give them something that you show an interest in them. Mor

Dejligt at høre om dine oplevelser
Kære Julie. Glæder mig over at se nyhederne fra dig derude. Rosenmeyer
