Day 26 - Snorkelling in Lan Ha Bay, boat trip to Monkey Island
The dreaded pancakes for breakfast. It was a majority vote, so I just got on and forced it down, again! This morning a small group of us have booked a private boat to go snorkelling. There is Ben, Roisin, Britty, Renske, Nadia and me. We got picked up at about 8.30 to be taken to the harbour. I always worry about the state of the boat; again, it was a good boat. Good choice girls!
Everyone enjoyed the snorkelling, all seeing plenty of different stuff. Amberlee seemed to be out the most, and also went further afield than anyone else. I was back to the boat first as I was having problems with my eye......and my mask. That is another box ticked for me; my first time snorkelling! Roisin had a lucky escape, he was busy with her head down, when a big boat started heading straight towards her. They clearly hadn't seen her! The man on our boat was going mental, shouting like crazy to the big boat. They did manage to miss her....just!
We all returned quite happy with the experience. Britty and I
went off to the Wifi cafe before lunch for a cold drink, and so that I could download some of the pictures. Then back to the hotel for lunch. It was the really nice soup again. I like that soup, but a bowl of it isn't substantial enough to be called lunch, especially after one pancake for breakfast. I am starving! I have high hopes for tonight's dinner!
This afternoon we are heading back to the harbour with Thanh and Son. We are going as a full group to Monkey Island. Hope the monies aren't too aggressive. Well, the monkeys were not aggressive as I expected. It was the people that were the problem! They antagonised them, which made them aggressive. It was a shame really. I don't think the monkeys benefit from high sugar carbonated drinks! A few people took kayaks out which looked fun, but also tiring on a hot day. I chose to sunbathe today. My eye has been a problem for me all day, but it is finally clearing up. Back to the boat, all at the front so that it could actually pull away, then off back to the hotel.
I am now
at the Internet cafe downloading all my pics from toady. I am sitting opposite a downer kebab mobile thing. The spindle is whizzing around so fast, I can't imagine it will ever actually cook the meat ...LOL. Tonight is some of the groups last night here so we are all going out for a group night out after tea.
We had a cracking few games of pool tonight at the Noble Horse. Matt and I made a good team and whipped Thanh and Son....LOL. It was a good last night with everyone together, although Britty and Nadia didn't make it. Britty was suffering from the effects of the sun, and Nadia was a bit out of sorts.
The end is here so soon, but when I look back, we have done such a lot!
