Day 24 - Halong Bay to Cat Ba Island
Not up too early this morning. 8am natural wake up too! Shared a room with Roisin, felt sorry for her having to put up with my snoring! I did ask her if it was bad, but she said I was ok last night, that was maybe a bit kind of her!! I had breakfast, bread and jam, funny bread, but still a welcome change!
We all went off to the beach to catch a couple of hours of sun. The beach was really quiet, which was good for us as we cause such a stare! Mind you, it does look funny; 16 of us all lined up. Britty and I had a funny conversion about how we were all like food on a barbecue, turning at regular intervals. Britty asked, " what animal would you be?" I decided I would be a pig, not in a negative way, but because I would be belly pork! We agreed that Britty could be veal, as she is lean meat only, then we added Roisin to our food list as a frozen French fry! Well, it may not seem funny when you read it,
but it made us laugh at the time LOL
After the beach, I went back for a shower, and prepared for leaving. I get frustrated when I can't get Internet. Out hotel did state Wifi, but I couldn't connect! Therefore I got sorted and went over the road for a coke, where they have Wifi. I was very pleased to sit and download all my recent pics and update blog...yayyy.
We then had lunch next door. I ticked yet another box....I ate a non prepared shrimp. I removed the head, legs, tail and shell then ate it. It is the first time I have done the full job myself. Last time I ate one, I cheated and Beth prepared it for me!
After lunch we all got taxis to the harbour, where we boarded our boat for Cat Ba. The boat was bigger than I had anticipated, thank goodness. We all really enjoyed it. We managed a stop for swimming, which was soooooo welcome. Sadly Lilley isn't well today, but everyone is rallying around her which is good, but i feel baad for her as she has really missed out on the fun today!
mddle of the boat trip we stopped off at Thien Cung Cave or the Cave of Heavenly Palace is on the same island with Dau Go Cave. The opening entrance to Thien Cung Cave is perched in the middle of the mountain which requires a bit of a climb, but it was definitely worth it. The way that they havestrategically lit it up with different coloured lights was so clever, and amazing!
I loved the swimming. We were all jumping and diving off the top deck. Unluckily for Hannah, she suffered a few jelly fish stings. It was about an hour ago and she said they are improving. She is the most positive person I have ever met, and lovely with i
So here we are at Cat Ba. The bus journey should be about an hour. The Hotel is the best we have had.. I am sharing with Nadia and Britt. We are on the forth floor, which is not so good, but on a good note, it has an amazing view! We went for a cold drink and a snack before dinner.
Dinner was really good tonight. Nadia wasn't too good tonight, so we didn't
go out with the group, but that suited me well as I wanted to sort my blog out! We sat at the first cafe with Wifi, I know this sounds stupid, but it was a really good, tangy lemonade.......then a man started chatting to Nadia; this chat turned into a massage. I have to say, he seemed to do her the world of good. As I was busy blogging, all I could hear was....oh my god, oh my god....I would have worried if we weren't on a street corner...LOL A few dinks, then back to the hotel for a very much needed shower and bed!
