Chteli jsme jit delsi trasu, ale nemame tu s sebou trekove boty a bez nich to jde dost tezko. Dokonce i nas pruvodce
Odpoledne jsme se nejspis naposledy dosli vykoupat do more.
Because the time is already pressing us we decided to take a flight from Hue to Hanoi. It takes about 14 hours by train and costs almost same money as a flight. The flight took just 45 minutes and we landed after two months in Hanoi again. We went from the airport straight to a bus station which has connection to Cat Ba island. Cat Ba island is one of the gateways for independent travelers to Halong Bay.
Halong Bay is an area in Southchina sea nearby Vietnamese coast where are hundreds of limestone karsts sticking out of the water. This area is incredibly popular with Vietnamese as well as foreigner tourists. It can get really crowded during high season so we were lucky to come just after its end. Cat Ba is now pleasantly sleepy town.
Our first day here we borrowed a motorbike and went to explore the island on two wheels. The island
is hilly and there are just three roads connecting places A, B and C, therefore it's possible to see it in couple of hours. The traffic here is so low that it almost feels like a different country. The countryside is stunningly beautiful {we picked up this phrase from Lonely planet which uses it on almost every page} and diverse with mountains, jungle, paddy fields, beaches,...
The next day we decided to take a boat trip to Halong Bay which is why most people come for. During the day we saw part of Halong Bay, did cayaking, visited one of many caves and finished our trip on a beach on the Monkey Island.
The third day we signed up for a rock climbing course which we enjoyed very much. We were the only customers that day so we both had our personal instructor. We were climbing in Valley of Butterflies where we got on motorbike driven by Vietnamese driver. The ride was actually more adrenalin than the climbing itself... We both climed three roads and failed on the fourth one. It was quite humiliating that our guide climed it barefoot.
Our last day here we did three
hours of treking in a jungle. We wanted to do more but we don't have propper treking shoes here and it would be too difficult with sandals. Even our guide was wearing boots and it was the first time for us to see Vietnamese wearing something else than flip-flops. Evethough, three hours were more than enough for us to get sweat through. In the afternoon we went for our probably last swim in the sea.
