The tour group
managed to cut a few of us out in this pic plus Louise not here :o( Hi All
We've now got 4 new people in our tour group for the next 2 weeks in Vietnam. Adam & Ross (20/21) from London area, Liz from Sydney (26) and Hedd (pronounced Heth) from Wales and he's 24.
Got the sleeper train from hanoi to Hue (pronounce Whey not Hugh as i thought!). It was a 12 hour journey but the beds were reasonably comfortable and it had air con so had a decent kip.
Hue is smaller than Hanoi so there isn't as much traffic or as many things to do. With the tour group we visited the Citadel, had some lunch and then for some real fun - beer and playing pool!! Had an indian meal at night which was the best i've had in ages, and another few beers!
Then today we took a cruise down the perfume river on a dragonboat and visited the Heavenly Lady temple and King Minh Mang's tomb and the monastery. This evening we went to a vietamese restaurant and dressed up as Vietnamese royalty. trevor and Lynn were the King and Queen and the rest of us were Prince and Princesses. It was a real laugh and
Elana
in front of temple there was traditional food (10 courses of it!). Laura and i were giggling our way through the whole meal when we misunderstood what the food (frog!) and i tried to eat a banana leaf (not edible!!). wasn't fun when a gecko fell on me either!
We're missing Louise as she has had to stay in Hanoi to receive medical treatment for her infected bites on her feet.
more from Hoi An later...
