069Our fearless guide with bees from a beehive. Unicorn island (one of the islands on the Mekong river) is famous for making excellent honey.
076Many families have rice wine/alcohol infused with various animals - - in this case snake and some kind of dead black bird. These "infusions" are mostly for "medicinal" use.
079We decided after this day not to take any more organized tours - - the entire day we felt like cattle being herded around in and out of buses and boats from one souvenir shop to another. Thankfully, day 2 wasn't as bad, but we will still try to do things on our own from now on. On the upside, the entire 2 day tour, including transport, boat rides, guide, hotel, lunch, etc was about $25/per person.
117Many families have these alters in their homes. Looks like they have fruit "sacrifices".
119Diego split this fish with an English guy on our tour. The waiter tears the flesh off and makes fresh spring rolls for you at the table.
132An assortment of fresh tropical fruit at a fruit farm.
135OK, I have heard of frog. But mouse? On a menu? Thankfully Diego did not try it.
137Diego's favorite meal so far. He has been looking for the same thing since but has not been able to find it. Grilled chicken with some kind of tamarind chili sauce. You cook it yourself at the table.
143This was a boat dock by day and a restaurant by night, in Cantho.
