Bike into Phon Thong yet again this morning. Pass a field en-route that looks remarkably like rape growing. Have been told that the chap planted it a few months together with the plan to plough it in to the soil as a fertilizer when he next puts his sugar in. Good idea ??
At the moment Jai's mum is selling most of her coconut leaf spines for firework rockets and not making many brushes. For every 100 spines that we cut from the tree, she trims up and dries, she gets about 12p. She has just sold a bundle of 5000 for about 6GBP and is quite happy with life for a day or two. At least it keeps her occupied and it looks as though we will be kept busy cutting more trees. In fact, later this after we visited a friend in a neighbouring village and filled another three sacks.
