Coconut Tree Scavanging

Jai's mum is struggling to find any coconut tree leaves around the village so Jai and myself bike to the neighbouring village of Coke Lam where her brotherYut has a farm with a few trees. We bring back a mountain of leaves and when we dump them in front of her it is one of the few times that I have ever seen her face show any emotion and she is obviously chuffed. No doubt she will surely make quick work of them. The elections are getting closer and still no-one has come to see us to offer us money for Jai's vote. Then late afternoon the wife of one of the candidates, who shall remain nameless, came and gave Jai and her mum 200Bht each - about 4GBP - to procure their 'X'. Cant uderstand why she wont give me anything ?!
