Life is so short we must move very slowly... ~ Thai Proverb
Sawadee people!
We are sending ourselves packing again - this time we are on a mission to continue delving deeper into South East Asia through a far reaching journey across Thailand, the Land of Smiles!
We were a bit apprehensive about travelling in Thailand after the Red Shirt demonstrations and subsequent political events in Thailand over the last 24 months, and the more recent yellow shirt demonstrations too. However between keeping an eye on the
Smartraveller site and on global media reports, we decided it would be ok. Plus it is usually easier to travel in countries experiencing a downturn in tourism, not to mention the fact that our money is helping to rebuild the industry.

If you haven’t been a fan of my past alliterative-cliché blog titles, there’s good news and bad news - good news is that Andrew is not a fan of it either; but the bad news is that it probably won’t change until Andrew starts writing the blog titles! I relish writing alliterations because it makes me giggle and also adds a nice dose of cheesiness to the day. In fact I think I might even raise the cheesy stakes further this time… alliterative-similes? Maybe even themed similes?? 😊
The lead-up to this trip (as with all others) started with two weeks of the usual chaos and madness that accompanies finishing off projects and sorting out the minutiae of work and life that needs to keep churning while we are away. Anyway, we’ve got through it and our thoughts can now finally turn 100% travel-ward. You know that picture postcard image of Thailand with fluffy blue skies, watery blue seas, powdery white beaches, and a wooden longboat pulled up on shore? That’s exactly where we will be on the second leg of our journey by way of some serious island hopping and beach bumming on the Andaman coast. But first we plan to explore Thailand’s modern cities, bygone kingdoms, temples, rivers, mountains, jungles and rain forests... let the playing begin!
As with our previous blogs, we have uploaded some photos here but ‘people’ pictures will be on our facebook pages.
Excited!
Ren and Andrew
