Distance travelled - 68 miles/110km
Back on the road again today after a much needed rest day yesterday. The legs are feeling stronger and we’re both starting to feel a lot fitter - we even stuck to the front packs for most of today which was an achievement for all.
Today we hit the 500km mark and rode through lush, green rolling hills, some more small villages and past one big arsed Buddha! Unfortunately a few people came off their bikes today, Dad being one of them, so he won’t be able to ride for a couple of days.
Kel surprised herself today. She came on this ride thinking she’d be back of the pack the whole way but powered her way to the front on some of the legs. Her journey to the front pack all began with a small dangling carrot at the start of the day - the bike shop in town where she wanted to buy sunglasses. It’s amazing how much energy one can exert when there’s shopping to be done. After that we had to try and come up with other carrots to dangle - Pad Thai lunch worked a treat! Shame we
didn’t have any Pad Thai when we actually got to lunch but the idea sure got the legs pumping. Kel almost packed a little boy from one of the water spots in her basket today as well. He was adorable - see pic below.
I had a great run today and am surprising myself too. I came into this ride with very little confidence and thanks to a great team of people I’m getting stronger... the legs will thank me for it one day I’m sure! Confidence peaked just after lunch today on a downward hill. I sidled up beside Craig and Henry, gave them the “Lance” look which sparked a sprint down the hill and into a very tight corner. If it wasn’t for that corner the rest would have been history... instead I was done and quite happy to drop back! And I’m very sad to say one of my streamers came off so I’m now the one streamered bicycle!
Must do another shout out to Greg who was fantastic yet again helping both Kel and I up another tough hill. They don’t call it a View Point for nothing. But what goes up must come
down and so we made our descent down the other side following a photo at the top, a brief water stop, and a brush with a (live) snake!
After a few more hills and a lunch stop we made it to Seafood and Resort Hotel! Nice resort but no internet hence why this blog is late - sorry followers! It has certainly been an interesting night so far - Kel was a little concerned that the ladies wearing aprons collecting seaweed from the beach were preparing our dinner; I almost stacked it big time getting out of the pool onto very slippery tiles; and we’ve just experienced the funniest massages. Kel stripped down for an oil massage but ended up getting a combination of oil and Thai, and half way through my leg massage two kids knocked on the door and wanted to come in and sit. WTF?? I guess for 350BHT you can’t complain!
So now all ready for a good nights sleep in preparation for a whopping day tomorrow - 127km. The good news though... KFC at the end of it. We’re all a little over Thai Food and will welcome the greasy goodness. I even
managed to convince the Thai food loving Kel to switch for the night.
Before we go we’d just like to introduce Billy - Lisa’s travelling partner of 10 years. Billy has travelled the world and brought Kel and I closer today as we shared an intimate moment - see photo below!!
Much love to everyone following our blog. Will upload Day 6 asap!
The Lance Armstrong Amigos!

P.S Quote of the week whilst talking about shopping in Thailand...
Lisa: Is everything real in Thailand?
Kel: I’m real...
Kel: I’m unreal!
