We got picked up at the pier by our driver for the day Mr Mun in a little minivan we'd hired him for the day to do oursightseeing much better rather than being with a big tour group! First stop was Erawan waterfalls which is a 7 tiered waterfall in the mountains of a national park!
We got out tickets and headed off at 9.00am knowing we had alot of walking to do Mr.Mun would wait for us in his car for a few hours!
All of the waterfalls are different they get better and better the higher you go.most people seemed to give up at the 3rd tier as its so hard walking through the jungle over and under huge logs climbing up rocks etc at the 4th tier we were drippin with sweat and took a well deserved dip, once i was in the water a swarm of catfish came up and started nibbling at my feet,i panicked at first but it didnt hurt it just tickled! I later found out they have these in cambodia where you pay for the service,so i was getting it for free happy days! We continued on all the way up to
number 7 and I slipped and fell but my bum broke the fall so no injuries there lol! We met a scouser guy called lez who took some pictures for us who we later met again on the death railway,he was about 65 and had been travelling since july 2007,his wife had died and he had sold his house to see the world.he told us it was great but when seeing some of the beautiful things he wished his wife was there with him,he nearly had lisa and me in tiers,he was in his last week of travelling we exchanged email addresses and he went on his way, really nice guy!
After the waterfalls we were heading to tiger temple which is ran by buddhist monks it has loads of different animals but the tigers are the main attraction. Thailand has 400 wild tigers and this place has 47 so thats more than 10 percent they raise them from cubs so they are domesicated to an extent, there fed cooked chicken so they dont associate the taste of blood with food!
We decided to pay 1000 baht to feed the tiger cubs,we thoght they would be really small but these
guys were 5 months old and enough rto give you a serious injury, we were briefed on what no to do i.e dont crouch down or turn your back as they will piunce etc,it was a nerve racking half an hour as one of the cubs had a thing for my shorts and kept running at me aaah! We played iwth them and fed they bottles which was cool!
Then we headed down to tiger canyon where only 20people can pay to come downa nd watch them play, you stand behind a fence which is waste hight and these are he full grown tigers! again do not turn your back as rthey will pounce this happened to a lady last year and one took a chunk out of her bum! This was a terrifying 20minutes but awesome we will never be that close to wild tigers agin, never forget it!
We headed off and to out guesthouse for the eveing Apples retreat,we just chilled by the river and had a few changs got talking to other backpackers and met our first ladyboy ten who worked there, bless him or her, asked us to write him a message in his little book.
We found out the place we had stayed on the jungle rafts had anacondas and pythons and was really dangerous! so glad i didnt go in the river now! A german guy when we was there had a big chunk big out of his foot by some sort of a fish! hmmm pirahna anyone?
Off to sleep early night as were heading to cambodia tomorrow!
