Sunday May 3rd 2009 Ko Tao
Taxi picked us up and brought us to Mae haad to get on our boat. Bit different from our Malaysian snorkeling, this boat was packed with about 60 people, and we weren’t the only 60person boat around. Pulled up in our first spot and there were more life vests in the ocean than fish. Stopped at 3 locations and saw bits and pieces but nothing majorly impressive. The weather was cloudy today which made it lovely and mild so didn’t have to worry so much about burning.

After a quick very spicy lunch on the boat we headed to Nan Yuang island just off the coach, this is one of the most beautiful spots in Thailand, two tiny island joined together by a perfect sand bar beach, very beautiful but thronged with tourists. We set off on a little trek to the top of the island up the dodgiest wooden planked walkway. Clambered our way over a bunch of rocks to this little rock platform where we jostled for space with all the Japanese and got a couple of moments of the view. Very beautiful, a pity the sun wasn’t shining but that would have also made the trek much harder and we would have roasted sitting around on the beach waiting an hour for our boat

Got back at about 4 and had a bit of a rest after the strenuous activity of having to do something then treated ourselves to something other than Thai food for dinner, found a lovely Mexican restaurant and we were delighted with our feed so we headed off to Lotus bar for a drink to see if we could see anyone around we knew. We decided to have a go at the old Thai whiskey so got a bucket between the two of us. Found Jo the welsh lad who was in the Army with Sam the Aussie and 2 stupid Americans so buzzed off them for another bucket. Called it a night after our second bucket and wobbled our way home, strong enough stuff that Thai whiskey.
