View from the Bar on the beach, out over the sea We arrived in Koh Toh, after the mayhem that was the halfmoon party in Koh Pagnan. We travelled by boat for the short trip to the island carrying a completly wasted Mikey who was feeling the after effect of the party
and probably thinking he should never drink again, well maybe he might last for a day? Koh Toh was going to be a great opportunity for some R&R with a Padi Diving course thrown in
somewhere in the middle. We didnt have any problems finding any accomodation as we were meeting up with Amalie and Josie our Danish friends from the Gibbons experience, they were already on Koh Toh doing there Padi
course. It was great to see the crazy danish girls again, and they introduced us to Ross and Racheal an English couple who were on the girls diving course. So an easy night was planned, but as all good plans it was safe to say
that it wasn't such an easy night! and a few drinks were drank to say hello to the girls.
We booked our Padi course with the Big Blue Diving school, for the next day. With out spare time we did an island
Nice View
View from the Bar on the beach, out over the sea hop over to the Ko Nang Yuan Island on a boat taxi, very cheap between the seven of us. The little island was very nice with a resort style hotel
and beautiful waters for snorkeling and a couple of dive sites further off the coast. We did a bit of snorkeling and just chilled taking in the beautiful views.
We said goodbye to the girls again as they were off to Koh Pagnan, with Ross and Racheal for the full moon party. We would be meeting up with them in a few days after we had done our diving course.
The next day we started our padi course, Mike and Kev had never dived before I was lucky enough to have dived in the Grand Cayman before, and was really looking forward to it. It was here that we met Suzy who was from Portsmouth, she was to be my dive buddy
for the course. The bookwork side of things in the classroom went well for all of us, and we were looking forward to getting into the water to start the practical side of things. In the afternoon we went for a shallow dive, to learn the basics and
get used to the equipment with our dive instructor Dean.
Dean was from Wales and was a great guy, whos Mum and Dad where over from the UK for a few weeks to visit, they were really nice and had some interesting stories.
Our second day of the course took us out on our first full dive, We went through our final checks of the equipment and dived in. We started our descent and this was where I encountered some problems. The boys went down super quick, I dont think they have actually had time to equalize, they went down so quick.
Me as however as usual with my ears couldn't equalize, I eventually managed to equalize and got to the bottom. However being a little silly and more concerned about my ears and equalizing, I did not notice that my eyeballs were trying to come out of there sockets due to the pressure and me not equalizing my mask.
After sorting this out on the sea bed, we set off. 40 minutes later and having seen some beautiful coral and fishes we were back on the boat. It was at this point that I realised how serious this
Dive Boats
Dive Boats at Ko Nang Yuan was and how Ill I was feeling. I basically had two very puffy black and bloodshot eyes!. These puffy bloodshot eyes were
to stay with me for the next couple of weeks. I cancelled the rest of my dive as I was feeling quite sore around the eyes and had an almost constant numbness in the head. Oh well lesson learnt.
The others obviously carried on, and suzy paired up with Dean our instructor. Sorry Suzy to let you down! When the guys finished and I was feeling better a couple of days later, me and Kev hired out Quad bikes to explore the island. This was an awesome way to see the island, as there is only one road had tarmac on.
The others are all dusty undulating tracks, some which is head high into the mountains. We explored alot of the island and even saw a couple of water buffalos in a watering hole. The best thing we found was probably our secret find, probably the best bar in the world well for views anyway. This was a locals house which he
had built a wooden decked area into the side of the mountain. It gave great picturesque views
Long Boat Taxi
Long Boat Taxi used to Ko Nang Yuan Island out over the island and into the sea, and the beer was very welcome as the temps had hit 40c!.
I left Koh Toh with a mixed emotion, I was gutted that I didnt finish my diving course, but still it cant detract from the fact that this was one of my favourite islands in Thailand.
