Our half day trip in Phi Phi was a lot of fun. We boarded a longtail boat and headed out. We got to go swimming in a secluded area and also snorkeling right off Maya Beach. We then went to Maya Beach but there were so many tourists. The movie "The Beach" has made the beach so popular that you can not relax. We also visited monkey beach on the way back to Phi Phi Don. Monkey Beach was really sad. Approaching the island there is a big sign reading "DO NOT FEED THE MONKEYS DO NOT POLLUTE". When we arrived we found all of the tourists feeding the monkeys and the tiny beach was soooooo polluted. Monkeys were drinking cans of Pepsi that tourists left behind. You all know how I feel about cruelty to animals and this truly disgusted me. Can you really be so ignorant that you think a monkey needs a Pepsi? I honestly don't know how tourists can be so stupid that they think that Thailand will remain this beautiful if they continue to pollute.
After that trip we went for lunch and a swim. We had dinner at a really great BBQ chicken place
right on the beach. The food was amazing. We shared a half chicken and corn which was sooooo much food. With all my leftover food I became quite popular with the island kitties. They were even sitting on the bench next to me snacking on my left over chicken. I must admit the stray animals here love me. Tyler however thinks I am a sap. I order extra food with dinner to make sure I have leftovers for all my animal friends.
We went to a bar on the beach that night that had amazing drinks, great company and a fire show. The fire show was insane. A kid that didn't look more than twelve participated and the show was amazing. We met some new friends from Canada and a couple of girls from Australia.
The following day we left for Ko Samui. We had a short ferry ride over to Krabi followed by a bus ride to Surat Thani and then another ferry to Samui. All in all we travelled for about 8 hours but the boat rides are so beautiful that those portions of the trip do not feel like travel at all.
Upon arriving
we walked to our hotel and checked in and realized our hotel was in the middle of nowhere. Our room was huge and nice but Tyler and I like to walk around in the evening. We rented a scooter which rent for about 5 or 6 dollars for 24 hours and headed into town. We had a great evening.
The next day we took the scooter and went for a hike in the mountains to a beautiful waterfall. We even could swim in the Waterfall. We went to town for lunch and then had a Thai massage. This was my first Thai massage here and I really enjoyed it. It costs only about 5 dollars Canadian for an hour. I made a joke about getting a receipt for making the claim on insurance but the Thai Masseuse did not get my sense of humor.
We also found Big Buddha. Which was really neat (see pics below).
Today we head to Ko Phangan for a few days.
Until next time!
