Once we had left Matt we boarded our boat and started our 2 and a half hour jouney to Koh Samui.
Koh Samui is the largest of the 3 islands in the group. It is the most populated and the most popular with tourists.
Following the pattern we have set we had no idea where our hotel was when we got off the boat but luckily Sue had arranged for us to be picked up and taken to our accomodation - The Loft. What would have done without you Sue? !
The Loft is located on Chaweng Beach on the East of Island. Chaweng Beach Road is the busiest road to walk down as you are hounded by every restaurant, bar, tailor and market vendor along with each and every taxi beeping at you and shouting "taxi, taxi, you want taxi? ". It was enough to give us a head ache! So we came up with the idea of hiring a moped to get around so we only had to stop where we wanted. This was by far our best idea to date! After a little getting used to and some hairy moments, Charlie decided it was OK to trust me
Monkey at a bar we found
The monkey climbed all over Charlie and get on the back.
We spent the first day exploring the island and found some amazing places including the most beautiful waterfall way up in the mountains that wasn't even on the map! ! Charlie spent most of the time with her feet in the water so the fish could nibble them like in the fish spa's, except this was free!
Samui has nice beaches and we can see why it is so popular with tourists, but for us it was a bit too husstle and busstle. We want to see the country for what it is. Not the tourist traps and hotspots.
A week passed and we again were ready for another boat trip, this time only half an hour over to Koh Phangan.
