Koh Samui
Anchoring Koh Samui Sawas-dii (hello),
Leaving Chiang Mai we arrived early morning at Bangkok. We locked our luggage at the train station and went to Qatar Airways to pre-pone our flight early April but unfortinately we could only book for 15th April paying extra 50 euros.
Gunay had her hair cut in a beauty salon. She was very much pleased with her hair cut and the price . The care they paid for her was ultimate.
In the afternoon we went to Khao San road again to refresh our memories.
The same day by night train we reached to Surat Thani and then by bus and boat we arrived at Koh Phangan ( Koh means island) at noon. In the South of the island at Baan Tai we found a beautiful resort at the beach ( Great Bay Resort , 25 USD). Making our resort center we travelled almost all around the island. On island holidays it is very common to rent a motorbike to wander around. It is a handicap that we don’t drive motorbike. We visited the bays usually by shared taxi. On the North west Haad Yao ( Haad means beach), on the South east Haad Rin
Bangkok
Traffic in Bangkok where famous full moon party takes place, on the North east we reached by boat Haad Thong Nai Pan Yai which may be the best beach we may recommend but quite lonely. We had difficulty in finding a taxi back to our resort from this beach and the road was dramatic, because of the passed rain.
During the full moon period the hotel prices increase almost 50 % on the island especially in the Haad Rin Region. In order not to pay this foolish extra we preferred to leave the island to the young and found a cheap boat from Haad Rin to Koh Samui and arrived at paradise.
At Koh Phangan the sea is not attractive for swimming but at Koh Samui you can swim all around the island but the best crystal clear sea is at Haad Chaweng Noi which is little bit South of famous Chaweng Beach where we stayed. Chaweng is the favorite beach area on the island. We wisited Lamai Beach in the South and in the North Haad Maenam and Haad Bo Phut where water is not as clear. But in Bo Phut there are many fish restaurants on the beach ,

In the streets of Chaweng many young man on motorbikes were asking our nationality and the language we speak in order to market hotels in the North. They were emphasizing on nationality. In order to protest them we rejected to answer their request . In the same manner a Turkish guy quickly recognized that we are Turks. We started to talk in Turkish. He was from Karsıyaka and he said that there were a Turkhis group living on the island. He was also marketing the hotels in the North. He was the third Turkish man we met on our two months travel in the South East Asia.
After idling 8 days on these two islands we are now heading to Krabi, Pukhet, Koh Phi Phi, west part of the mainland.
Khawp Khun (Thank You).
