No other way to really get around Phi Phi unless you like treking.....
More Thai Pusses....More Thai Pusses....
More Thai Pusses....

''Tiger'' - world's most sloth-like puss and the apple of john's eye..... One of the many 'stray' cats on Phi Phi-though they are happier and better fed than any other cat we'd ever seen - stray or domesticated. He was under the guardianship of the beach massage couple near our resort. We had to get our daily dose of Tiger.....
Time for Trek....Time for Trek....
Time for Trek....

So, we decided to forego the boat taxi monopoly an make our OWN way over t the other side of the island where D had heard that there were monkeys! Not an easy feat......
Monkey offerings...Monkey offerings...

Bananas in hand trying to lure the monks....
Once on the other (East) side of the island Once on the other (East) side of the island
Once on the other (East) side of the island

This already seemed a lot after trekking up and through the jungle down to the other side of the island but now we had to walk along the at times slippery rocks up the Eastern coast to get to the other path to take us back over to our side of the island..... And, man, was it a HOT day too!!!
Well deserved break.... Well deserved break....
Well deserved break....

Finally came upon a restaurant to stop and have a georgous Thai iced coffee in - plus a little company to boot - little man from the family that ran the place that liked to immitate monkeys that come around every morning (we missed them :( ) We had a little thing going on with him.... lil' angel!

Think he thought John was the dogs b*****s! He had about 4 sisters. John gave him some 'bro' time
And we're off again....And we're off again....
And we're off again....

Kep on truckin' up along the coast....monkey sightings becoming less and less likely this time out....
Ghost Beaches...Ghost Beaches...
Ghost Beaches...

An abandoned 'boat taxi'... Not much action on this side of the island. Many of the Thais live over here.... just a few very laid back bungalows round this side - nothing like the Western side....
Break please....Break please....
Break please....

Had been on the go for a good 4 hours already and still yet to find the path that would take us up into the jungle back over to the West side of the island......
Must come down.....Must come down.....
Must come down.....

Just a note here; the trail through the jungle was NOTHING like this smooth concreted bit for about 90% of the time....AND it was monsoon raining as we started up!!! Did you know the snakes come out in the junle when it rains?? eeeeekkkkkkkkk
Steeeeeeeep !!Steeeeeeeep !!
Steeeeeeeep !!

Those were some steep stairs! Not too easy with shakey knackered legs from whole day of trekking....
Not done yet.....Not done yet.....
Not done yet.....

Once back on West side - had to makeour way back down to our Southern beach to our resort on Long Beach..... This shot of Thai housing in Phi Phi town
More Dolls!More Dolls!

Nice little doggie love break a couple beaches North of ours along the way. What the guide books say about dogs being rabie ridden in Thailand is BULL Shite!! Lovely canine babies!
Next beach down....Next beach down....
Next beach down....

Another sloth.....fattie!
We did make it home......We did make it home......
We did make it home......

Couldn't be f'ed to keep snappin' shots along the way but we made it - 100% knackered but really glad we'd done it. Total trekking time: 8 hours! whew!
