AO NANG
Sober, honest! Hello all,
Well folks we are now in Ko Lanta staying on the northern most tip. Transfer by fast boat was good and we even had transport waiting for us, great we thought! then turned off onto an undulating dirt/mud track and onto a deserted beach, "what are we coming to?" we ask ourselves. Even more so when the driver tells us to get out and start wading (luggage and all) through knee high water to get to our resort. There had been a road/causeway 1 year ago.* On walking along the beach we could hear building work going on, more trepidation, but my goodness what a view of the bay, resort, infinity pool and our accommodation. It was beautiful as hopefully the pictures will show. Really a touch of paradise, a bit off the beaten track and quieter than where we have been; but a real CHILL OUT PLACE.
Our last night in Ao Nang turned into a bit of a session. This photo being one of the least incriminating. We also had three days in Kata. The highlights of which were meeting up with Linda's cousin and his wife and Ken visiting a building being constucted to see
KARON
Still taking my H&S duties seriously! that they were complying with H&S regulations!!
Updating the travel log on a regular basis may be a bit hit and miss in view of the isolation and internet access.
The weather has not been brilliant, although remains hot and humid, occasional bouts of sunshine but mainly cloudy and rain at some stage during the day. (We were weather men in a former life)
Our main problem at the moment are the mosquitos; the evil little devils show no mercy irrespective of how much insect repellant we use. Perfume or aftershave is a thing of the past but we do do a good line in dot to dot pictures. We have become experts in the local remedies for minimising the after effects of the bites. Still having a good time though.
*The amazing thing about these people is that they are still very friendly and helpful, they have picked themselves up and started rebuilding and still with a smile on their faces. It is very evident how much damage has been done in this small area alone but they soldier on regardless. Need we say more.
