Yes i was attacked by an evil Monkey in Lop buri... more on that later!!
Sukhothai Historial Park was really really beautiful. It was about a 20 minute local bus ride out to the historial Park. I hired a bike and strolled (can you stroll on a bike???) well peddled slowly anyway. Weather warm, sky blue, grass green and freshly manicured. After a couple of hours cruising around i came to a Massage House....... Geeez, how can i resist i tell ya??? i stopped in for an hour thai massage 100 Baht then hop on my trusty bike, water bottle in front basket and i am away again.
After spending the day the Sukhothai Historial Park I caught a local bus back to my Guest house in new Sukhothai. I decided to stay for 2 nights & stayed in a Guest House owned by expats. It was a lovely and clean bungalow with my own bathroom and western toilet - what luxury. This might sound a little strange but i quite like the swat toiilet, it feels more natural now that i have mastered the art of number 2's.....
It had been a big day so i decide
to have an early night.
Next day, early to rise - in backpack world anyway..... i grab my book head for the swinging love seat ask for a fresh iced coffee and spend the morning in the warm thai sun relaxing.
Next i decide to check out the town of new Sukhothai. Mar dam, Mar dam.... you like massage... your lucky day, we give you good price... i promised i would drop by on my way back from exploring the town.
By the time i had walked into town it was midday and quite hot so i hired a tuk tuk for an hour to be shown around the 'burbs. It is quite dusty and most houses are made of wood and are very simple.
Next i return to the massage ladies and they convince me to have a 2 hour massage - with both ladies massaging me at once. The 1 st lady was awesome and really knew what she was doing, the 2nd lady was a little strange just rubbing up and down my calf, up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down.... i mean continually for about 20 minutes
in the same place until i sat up and gave her an confused expression.. I think she understood because she then moved to my head and i was relaxing for a little minute and i heard her turning some pages.... She was reading a massage book and trying to follow the instructions?????? - I thought all Thais knew how to do Thai massage, isnt it cellular??? Obviously not!
Later that evening i decided to go to a local Thai Night club. I arrived at 10pm and was the only one there so the band came up to me and started talking and asked if i would like them to perform for me. I said sure. They did about an hour set just for me. They sung mostly Thai songs however did a few covers with very creative wording. It was great! After that I went to Choppers Bar where i met up with a few more locals and was invited to a wedding the next day at 10 o'clock.
I arrived at the place where the marriage was to take place and sat down and tried to blend in. 8 Monks arrived and started chanting for about an
hour which was amazing. The vibration from their voices moved me to the core. The husband and wife to be sat on their knees and it seems that every family member then went up to them one by one and spoke very soft to them and placed a cotton band around each of their wrists. This was quiet interesting to watch. And then they were married! Next, all the food started to come out, and there was so much , all help yourself... i accidently piled my plate high with different delights then remembered i would not have a clue what i was eating... so i secretly ate the rice and while everyone was finishing everything on their plate i quickly put a tissue over my leftover food, I wasnt really up for pigs blood, intestines, brain, tongue, liver or any other Thai delicacies at this point. The best bit was home made ice cream for dessert.
I thanked everyone for inviting me and headed to the train station and headed to Lop buri, Town of Monkeys. I arrived in Lop buri at 1am and went to check into a hotel but this one had HUGE flying cockroaches in
the lobby, i thought i was imaging it but then when i saw mouse droppings out side of the room they were about to show me and when they opened the door there were cockroaches on the bed and floor of the room i said Kwap Koon Kaa... thank you very much, but i'll pass on this one... Next one did have big cockroaches in the bathroom but i sealed the door up with a towel so they couldnt escape in the middle of the night and i went to bed.
The next day I was walking down the street in Lop buri quite happy with myself, i knew where i was headed and where to catch the train from afterwards. I bought a bag of fresh pineapple and was strolling down the street happy and peaceful when i thought someone had grabbed my leg with a very firm grip behind me, i SQUUUEEEEEELLLLLLED...... an evil monkey had climbed up my leg, up my back and down my arm to grab the bag of pineapple and was sitting on the ground looking up at me with its evil yellow eyes. i had my head in my hands crying before
i even knew what had happened. Many shop owners came outside to see what the commotion was about and then laughed at seeing such a funny site.... I decided a quick exit would be the best idea so head held high as if nothing had happen and i went on my merry way.
I caught the early train to Ayuthaya. This is a beautiful town where the ruins are amongst the town. I went on a night tour of the ruins which were lit up by huge flood lights and a boat tour during the day along the river. besided that i just chilled out people watching, walking around the town, sleeping in... i had 2 days to wait until I was to pick up Damien from Bangkok.
I have met so many people, foreigners and locals. The locals have been so incredibly nice to me. They like to practice their English and have a great sense of humor. Every time someone has asked my name and i have said Daniella they have either thought i say Jenny or Jenny - ella and even if i sound my name out slowly or try and explain it the Thais
cant seem to get their mouths around my name to say it properly so i have changed to Ella while i am here. Which makes it all so much easier.....
I arrived in Bangkok and stayed in a different part of the City and really loved it this time. I met up with a fella that i met in Laos and we hung out for the day and i had a delicious Thai noodle soup for dinner, went out for a beer, had a pretty early night and woke up the next morning to meet Damo at the airport. We were headed for South Thailand and the Island of Ko Phi Phi....
