Hey everyone its us again. Surprised we made it back so soon but we thought we best get everything up to date before we start our hopefull itinery of Jungle Treks, Thai Cooking Courses and Thai Boxing events etc! :-) Well, I (vicky here by the way) will start from when we last spoke. It was a mad dash from the internet place to the Hotel for a 2 second shower as we were advised at 6.50 that it can take up to 35 to get to the Train Station from the Hotel - our Train was at 7.35! We still had to shower and grab some food for the 15hour journey! Yes, 15hours, 15 Bumby hours! After my 2 second shower I legged it to the shop, ordering a taxi on the way, grabbed some food, found Guy after an attempted call to tell him where I had gone to! We jumped in the cab and told the driver to hurry! After about 5mins, my phone rang and to my surprise it was Guy!? But it was not guy on the other end of the line, he had left his Phone at the Hotel! Mad dash back to collect then on to the station round two! :-) Luckily the Train was pulling in as we arrived! We jumped on, a little worried as to what lay ahead due to only being able to book 2nd class, but we were more than happy! I took the top bunk and set up camp for the night. We were opposite an American couple from Alaska which was reasuring! I was surprised that I did not feel at all vulnerable, apart from the swaying of the Train from the top bunk! We did both however take all of our valubles to bed with us! :-) Not much to report on the journey, apart from the toilets! Gees! Well best way to describe is there were 2 options, one with two foot-plates either side of a foot long pipe which just opened out onto the Tracks which I guess was intended for the men - but when you gotta go, you gotta go! Hovering is a wonderful art isnt ladies! :-) The 2nd option was the same but had a loo seat - of sorts! I got the pleasure of both excperiences!Ok, enough of the toilet humour! I am so excited to be in Chiang Mai it is so nice to be away from the madness of Bangkok! Eagle Guest House is a tranquil retreat just a stones throw behind one of the main steets in the town but it is so peaceful in there! The room is more than adequate with a 'wet room' shower n loo etc although no paper down the loo, you have to go Thai stylie! - Use the little shower head to was your bits! :-o Think that will take a little getting used to! We have booked ourselves onto their Thai Cooking Course for tomorrow and hope to go watch Thai Boxing in the evening. We4 have put our name down for a jungle trek but they need a minimum of 6 people to sign up so will have to wait and see! Fingers crossed! The Internet cafe is opposite and the food at Eagle seems nice and extreely varied. Well as im watching the day (and a number of Monks!!) pass by out of the window, I think we really should be out there exploring! Off to see the shops now, then the Night Bizare this evening - what bargain tat can i find to buy!? Ha well take care guys hope all is well in good ol' blighty seems a world away from here! Speak soon, muchos Thai love to one and all V & G xxx
