Today, we went back to the Thai traditional center in the morning to get Thai massages. In Thailand, massage is used frequently to treat aches and pains. The massage focuses on pressure points and stretching. It was very relaxing, and I enjoyed the experience. In the afternoon, we went to the Bangkok-Chiang Mai hospital, which is a private hospital. It was very different than the public hospital where we had clinical last week. The government does not cover the expenses at the private hospitals like they do for the public hospitals, so most Thai people use the public hospitals where they can get the inexpensive healthcare. I learned a lot about the differences in healthcare between the public and private hospitals from this visit. In the evening, we went out to dinner to celebrate Mel’s birthday. She was so surprised! We went to a nice farm to table restaurant where I had the first salad that I have had in weeks. It was absolutely delicious! Overall, it was a really nice day.
