Leaving kanchanaburi
Off to find a taxi to the bus station Everyone really wants to get to Laos, so decide not to go to Khao Yai National Park. We caught the public bus to Ayutthaya, about three and a half hours. We changed buses, and the next one unfortunately had TV. Really bad soapy, and so loud you couldn't talk. It wasn't pleasant at all. In Ayutthaya we bought tickets for the overnight train to Khon Kaen. This makes it a lot of travel in a day and really end up skipping the North East of Thailand.
We wandered around Ayatthuya, the train leaves at 9.40 pm. The kids liked finding Dairy Bell icecream and Dunkin Doughnuts. The city was ok, bit like most really, but on the drive in there were a lot of ruins, so I think it would be worthwhile spending a day or two here, although maybe not for kids.
We found guys cooking all sort of meats spring rolls etc and these were really good. Christine and I got some stir fries from a little restaurant that was doing an amazing take away trade, almost needed some traffic police. It was pretty good, but I am not sure that they were keen on having tourists
Bus to the bus station
We found a local bus to the bus station there.
We got on the train ok, and although we didn't have a sleeper for Harry, there was a spare and the guy on the train made it up for him.
