Bus arrives at Mo Chit at the unearthly hour of 04:15 and we taxi to our usual guest house in Banglamphu. Have to wait for a room to become free so have a coffee from the corner 7/11 store and breakfast before getting the call about 07:00.
Lazy morning then out for a walk and lunch at our usual Chinese run noodle stall. Afterwards we visit the National Gallery which luckily has a free to enter day in progress. It is full of contemporary sh*t which is over my head and our visit is very brief.
Lazy afternoon as well before heading for the gardens next to the river in the early evening. Take some somtam and nam tok with sticky rice back to the room for our last Isaan food for 6 months.
Mr Noi comes with his taxi and picks us up at 10pm and whisks us off to the airport. Check in goes smoothly but I am not able to blag an upgrade for flying on my birthday. Moving through to departure lounge we buy some orchids for mum and some perfume for Jai then sit to wait to be called to the gate.
