Cab rides here are fun... not! You're lucky if there is a seatbelt, if not just hold on for dear life! You're told on all these travel advice websites to only get in metered taxis, but apart from going from Bangkok airport to our hotel, we've not come across one, it's easier to tell them "I'll pay you this much" - "Ok, hop in".

We visited the Grand Palace today, which was unfortunately closed - so we actually visited a temple instead. Funny story, we had read online about random people telling you an attraction was closed, and then trying to guide you to a gem shop. When we stepped out of our taxi a man in a military type outfit came up to us and asked where we were headed, we told him and he said 'No that is closed today, how about the temple' .... no thank you sir! We have our wits about us and know you are just trying to lead us to a gem shop, piss off. We then walk down a bit and realise there are other men in military outfits standing at the entrance of the closed off road to the temple checking people's bags.... oops, turns out he actually works there and was trying to be helpful... ahh well you live and learn.

A trip to the temple was followed by a walk around Lumphini park, which was lovely. There are people doing all sorts around this park including rollerblading and working out. There is gym equipment dotted around available for anyone to use! We then managed to navigate ourselves onto the air conditioned Skytrain to the station closest to our hotel. We popped into Siam Square where we found a rather disturbing statue which could quite easily be the DVD cover to The Human Centipede!

Feeling quite hungry as we hadn't eaten all day we stopped into the McDonald's which is joined onto our hotel, Chicken Burger, Chips and a Sprite - amazing! Ok I realise my vegetarian days are over before they even started, but I wasn't going to get a fillet of fish like some sort of nob was I?!
