Day 3
Rub a dub dub while relaxin in the tub. What a wonderful morning for Lindsay to wake up
at 5amagain. Unwilling to disturb Kemper she works quietly on her computer in the dark corner of the room. Kemper eventually rolls over and notices that once again she is sleeping and potentially missing out on something. She jumps out of bed some mediocre excitement that nobody was buying. Lindsay suggested that since they were both sick and not fully recovered that they take it easy today. "What if we have a Spa Massage Crawl" We have both tried a bar crawl in the past but neither of us have ever stumbled from one massage place to another until we can hardly stand anymore. Seemed like a great challenge and would help our goal to rest our bodies back to health. What a fabulous idea, but only in Thailand. We ended up spending $20 each for all the massages we could handle. Between massages we decided to take a quick walk around the block and hydrate. Lindsay described the walk as a mobile spa, Not that different from a day at Burke Williams. It's hot, gonna sweat a little like we are in a sauna, hydrate in our outdoor "steam room", and then get a massage. 3 hours later we were hot, sweaty, famished, and LOST. By the time we made it back to our starting point we were ready for one last foot massage to round out our "crawl." Completely relaxed and now slightly paranoid we were over massaging our bodies, we headed to the hotel to plan our next destination. We both agreed the beach was calling. It was time to get out of the city and take in the serenity of Thailand's beaches. We decided to go to Railay beach first. So we booked our plane ticket, hotel, and talked about what our plan was for Railay. As we were hanging out in our bathrobes and doing research, Lindsay looks over to find Kemper in a sweet slumber. It was just about dinner time, and Lindsay was prepared to head out to dinner solo. Kemper, not wanting to miss anything, woke up and pulled herself together.
The weather in Bangkok so far didn't strike us as the cool season. It was averaging 90 with a thick humidity that felt more like the 100s. It's hard to image what the hot season is like. It did however, live up to the forecast of scattered rain at night. And in this night in particular we experienced our first monsoon. Well at least it seemed like a monsoon.
Lindsay threw on her popular blue plastic raincoat as kemper put on her raincoat, both bracing for the weather. We grabbed an umbrella from the hotel and were on our merry way to dinner. It was pouring out. Buckets of rain. So we did the only thing we could with soaking wet feet... We sang and danced in the rain.
One thai massage crawl later and a solid performance in the rain... It was the perfect way to say goodbye to Bangkok. At least for now.
Ps...Lindsay caught kemper fast asleep while taking a bath that evening. Shocking.

Love reading your blogs, thank you for keeping up. I googled Railey Beach and it looks incredible.....no cars, buses allowed? Can't wait to hear about that.
