Our first full official day in Bangkok. The temperature is a nice sweltering 34degress with fair humidity. We decide to go to MBK on our first day. This shopping area is one of the MUST see's in Bangkok. Although classified as a "mall", this place has about 8 floors of shopping with hundreds and hundreds of vendors on each floor. Each floor is divided up into main types of shopping. For example gold is on the 3rd floor while electronics are on the 5th floor. Like many places in Asia, you can bargain here go get a good price for things you want to buy. An added bonus, on the 6th floor there are also a number of shops that cater for bigger sized people, ranging from XL-10XL. The overall sizes are okay, unlike HK where size 2 is the norm 😊

Thai's love food. In this mall there are 3 food areas you can enjoy. The 5th floor is more of the international food area which has all kinds of food from around the world. On the 6th floor you can find a whole other food area which has more local type food. Tons of Japanese food here. I didn't realize how much Japanese influence is in the overall pop culture in Bangkok.

I thought Singapore had a monopoly on shopping, but Bangkok maybe a close second. MBK also houses the Tokyu department store. Bangkok has interesting man made walkways that link some of the close subway stations together. Beside MBK is another shopping complex called Siam Complex. This place is also massive with a number of shops.

It's very easy to get to MBK. Take the train to National Stadium. Look for the signs and you will see MBK sparkling in the background.

A few tips. Pace yourself for this place. We took a walk around all the floors before going back for what we wanted to buy. And BTW, ear mark a good 4-6 hours for this place to see everything. This is not the kind of place you want to come to and spend 1-2 hours, you won't be able to do it, so don't bother.

Food is fantastic and great variety. We tried Vietnamese food while here and it was FAB, definitely worth trying in Bangkok.
