Back to Bangkok Actually, I was supposed to go to Abu Dhabi this Christmas together with my girlfriend; but we broke up a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to go to another of my favorite cities, Bangkok!
I was here last 18 months ago, and it always makes me feel good. To be around people who love life so much without needing wealth, that is what really srikes me.
I left Frankfurt on December 22 in the evening, and I was very lucky because I was upgraded to Business Class and could get a good deal of sleep. No idea why I was chosen, I guess it was a raffle or something.
I arrived Thursday evening and went straight to my hotel. I chose the Novotel on Siam Square, not the cheapest hotel you can get, but an excellent choice when it comes to location.
I spent the first two days taking pictures, some of them visible to you here.
I hven't been to the night action so far, but I will probably start doing so tomorrow.
There is always sonething going on in bangkok, so I went to Central World Plaza where people gather to
celebrate Christmas, even though it is a Christian thing, the Thai happily take the chance to have fun.
That's a word to remember:
sanuk Stay tuned, more to come
Christmas is over December 26 is coming to an end, and since this is a holiday where I come from, I can say finally Christmas is over now. That definitely doesn't mean the Thais stop celebrating. As I mentioned before, they crave for
sanuk (fun), so you'll always find something going on.
Being a photographer I spent the last three days mainly taking pictures. I didn't go to many places but tried to find more details in the ones I went to. And, since I am all on my own and we don't celebrate Christmas anymore within the family, I made myself a Christmas gift: a new lens! It's a Canon 15mm / 2.8 Fisheye, and I really like it. I think I already took some nice pictures with it, decide yourself.
Before I came here I was sure I would indulge in the nightlife as much as I could. Interesting enough the only place I have been to so far (except for restaurants, of course) was
the Hard Rock Cafe which is only a 5 minute walk from my hotel. Had two Singha beers, that's it. Actually it was pretty empty.
But tomorrow I am probably going to meet up with a friend who is also visiting for a few days, so I am sure we will go to some other places, like Soi Cowboy or Nana Plaza.
I understand that this kind of entertainment is not everybody's cup of tea, but I really enjoy seeing beautiful girls. and yes, there are a lot of them here, not only in the two places mentioned, but everywhere. Ok, one might say I am exploiting their situation, not taking any social responsibility; ok thus it be. Honestly, I don't care. Those who feel what I do is wrong can stop reading n now. That's fine with me, and I approve of it.
Don't worry, I might write something about the experiences made, but I sure will wite nothing your kids shouldn't read!
I am planning to go a bit farther away tomorrow to find new things to take pictures of, but I haven't decided yet where to. But be reassured, I will let you know.
