hello everybody! been sending a few emails but dont know if they're working..hopefully this will..!

so we made it here after the 11hr flight which went pretty quickly despite the entertainment system being broken most of the way..kinda forced us to sleep.. having sorted out my re-entry permit, we got the bus to sukhumvit area where (we hoped) big john's hostel was to be found..dumped off the bus having crawled through the horrific traffic for a few kilometres we found the hostel with relative ease.. i thought it seemed nice enough, shared bathrooms were fine, no window but a/c in room, definate plus.. we then slept from about 2 in the morning til 3.45 the next afternoon..error! it has subsequently meant we've only just really got over the 7 hour time difference! for dinner that night we had a burger king btw..typical you may think! but it was so much nicer than home..! also almost hot hit my traffic twice..its the silly little mopeds which come out of nowhere which cause me trouble..!
next day we found the negative side of the hostel..500m walk to skytrain, 25 baht to siam takes 15mins then you have to get a tuk tuk

Just across from the infamous Patpong market
or taxi from there..was not a good location! but we found patpong market, had a beer, then set about buying stuff! got some t-shirts (150 baht each), diesel shoes (500 baht), armani belt (200 baht), dvd's(100 baht each)! after this we headed back to try to sleep but ended up playing cards then watching the england match at 3am! 2-1 so happy! and with 5 spurs players on the pitch at the end..class!

next day we decided we wanted to be closer to the action, so caught a taxi for under a quid each to khao san road where we found the budjet hostel!!! its got nice bathrooms, the third bed is little more than a carry mat and the biggest bar in town seems to be next door but hey, we're close to everything! we also tried food from a stand, really good, only cost about 30p (20baht) for big plate of noodles, with an egg and a sping roll! awesome! we then caught a tuk tuk round to see thwe palace.. the guy then proceeded to take us everywhere (big buddha, golden mountain, some other place?!) but not the palace, and also made us look at some

Cheap shit central
jewelry and suits because he gave us the ride for only 20baht, which in the end we didnt pay because as we came out of the golden mountain he had gone! :-( 1st con complete, as we then had to catch a tuk tuk for double the price (40 baht) to the palace, which was closed by this time..and then another tuk tuk back to khao san..! keep being offered ping pong shows (work out for yourself what that is but its not very pleasant) and everyone seems to think that you should buy their shit..gets annoying! we also booked out trip to cambodia for 300 baht, not bad for a 4hr bus followed by a 5hr bus!

back in bangkok now in same place but will leave the cambodia experiece in a separate blog as i think it deserves it!
