Our long waited Christmas holiday in Thailand from 13th of December To 27 th of Dec. started from Bangkok, which is the capital city of Bangkok and largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. This was the best way of starting a Christmas holiday from Bangkok, absolutely without any big plans. Beforehand I though I could be happy if I get a chance to enjoy of the sea, the sun and relax. Everything else beside that was considered as an extra!
When we landed Bangkok at the Saturday afternoon 13th of Dec the weather was hot and sunny, on the other hand, what else to even except after not so sunny Singapore. To my great surprise the weather there was much more easier to handle than the huge humidity here in S'pore. It was so strange not so sweat that much and stay dry :D
We had booked the hotel, or actually the guesthouse beforehand without knowing a much, or actually anything about the town. Sometimes it is a mistake to trust other peoples recommendations, especially from those you don't know and just read some info they have put on the Internet. This time picking up the accommodation
blindly was positive surprise. Despite of the fact that the hallway or passage to that was the most frightening and uncertain ever. It also really offered us a rare view of the night skyline of old Bangkok from its rooftop..
This time we were not travelling only with just two of us. My boyfriend Timo, from Finland was also joining with us and I was enthusiastically waiting the time to pick him up from the airport. Our meeting at the airport was almost like in the movies, I just little bit spoiled it by calling him to tell my location.
Bangkok was broadly speaking great. For sure the city is having different faces,( whole the Thailand is called the land of thousand smiles ) but for us Bangkok showed its best. Our location couldn't have been better. We were in the heart of Bangkok, nearby Chao Phraya River and it was easy to discover Thailand’s Grand Palace, famous temples, Giant Swing and other attractions on foot. Except the first evening there when Timo was almost kicked by elephant in front of some restaurant the three days in Bangkok went well. We got authentic experiences when discovering the city
by our own, not with the some group. I especially remember one delicious Chao Phraya River restaurant where we were eating at the second evening. Pineapple fried rice, prawns and sticky mango rice with pork, all the food was splendid and the taste was best in ages.
The Tuk-tuk (ตุ๊กตุ๊ก) drive was definitely the thing I wanted to try in Bangkok. Tuk - tuks are generally doing a similar job than the taxes but as being open-ended, they expose passengers to the high pollution levels in the middle of Bangkok's roads. We also realized pretty soon that they offer almost no protection in case of an accident. Sometimes it felt that our Tuk- tuk driver have no idea where our destination even was. But no matter what, it was great fun and authentic thing to do when being there, although bargaining the price with tuk-tuks before getting in was always nervous breaking. After the time in Bangkok was in a way refreshing to move forward towards the sea..
In the end of Bangkok section I wan't to tell The full ceremonial name of the Bangkok, which is Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani
Ghangi Airport
The trip started from here Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit (In Thai: กรุงเทพ มหานคร อมรรัตนโกสินทร์ มหินทรายุธยามหาดิลกภพ นพรัตน์ราชธานี บุรีรมย์อุดมราชนิเวศน์มหาสถาน อมรพิมานอวตารสถิต สักกะทัตติยะวิษณุกรรมประสิทธิ์) I wish I never need to remember that by heart.
