Street Vendor
Street Vendor Well after a few tearful goodbyes we have finally started our journey to conquer the world. First stop: Bangkok, the city of tuk tuk and ping pong shows!! (You want sex? Sex dvd? hahaha)
Landed at about 9.30 local time (12.30 aus time) bartered a taxi to take us to our accomodation. A cute little bed and breakfast called Tuptim. And that is exactly what we got: 1 bed and 1 breakfast! But it had air con...so good. After settling into our room we chained our bags to the bed and went for a beer and contemplated whether we had made the right decision. The answer was yes.
Next day we had planned to walk around the local area...we got 10 meters then was bailed up by a tuk tuk poacher. Who quickly wisked us away to 5 locations: big buddah, happy buddah, golden mountain, TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) and 2 sneak rip off tailors. The fare was only 20baht which is about $1. Tuk tuks are so cheap because they make you visit tailors and other such places that give them fuel vouchers for bring poor unsuspecting tourists to their shop. The TAT was really good tho. A big
Architecture
Thai Architecture pommy guy called Steve (whos thai name Little Elephant) helped us organise our trip. So now all our remaining transport, transfers and accomodation is booked and paid for. No more worries...just in search of sunrise (that was for you Victor).
We are going to Chaing Mai tonight by overnight train. Tomorrow we relax and explore then the next we go on a mini-trek which includes an elephant ride and bamboo rafting. I hope our white-water rafting expertise is handy here 😊 Then back to Bangkok then we fly to Krabi. Stay there for 3 nights then bus to Koh Samui then boat over to Koh Phan Yang. Then boat-bus back to Bangkok then on to the UK.
So much craziness here. It is a bit like what people say with the dogs and the rubbish on the street and it is completly different too. We have brushed our teeth in local water, ate pad thai off the street and drank the local beers and freshly squeezed mandarine juice (soooo good).
Last night we went to the Patpong Markets. Every quarter of a step Chris was getting bailed up to see shows and buy sex dvds. Was so
Bells
Temple Bells funny. You can see the girls from the street and they all look so little. Oh and there is a WHOLE street of dream boys!! We did some bartering. Chris got a rad fox shirt from 1000 to 200. I got a disel and G$B singlets from 1200 to 400. There is sooooooo much stuff for sale. Someone needs to tell them that less is more! But anything you want at all can be bought, rolex watches, disel shoes, passports, licences, ninja stars etc etc.
We saw a guy riding along on his pushy with a keg of heiniken strapped to the side talking on mobile phone, a woman breast feeding her baby on the back of her husbands motorbike while dodging crazy taxis and tuk tuks. There are no real lanes...they are more of a guide to let you know which way the road is going. It is like organised chaos...people driving everywhere cutting everyone off, but at the same time, no one every crashes and everyone gives way.
We just got measure to have suits made. Chris is getting a prime cashmere Armani English cut suit - pants, jacket and shirt and so I thought I'd
Buddah
Big Buddah get one too. We have to come in once more to get fitted then we pick up the final product when we leave Thailand.
Gotta run...to catch our train to the land of elephants. Not sure what internet they have up there, but we will keep you posted.
Khawp Khan Koah 😊
