Well where do we start, had a good flight over even though delayed by an hour and an 11 hr flight seemed to take forever. Got hassled in airport but think did well & ignored them to get a government taxi to hotel, supposedly but took us to wrong hotel so hunted our actual hotel down, luckily didn't take long.
Hotel is simple but clean. Weather has been so hot & sticky its disgusting. Bangkok is weird cos it's very westernised but on a slummy level.
BIG TIP - Don't Trust Anyone, we were warned but didn't think they'd be that good. Everyone is in it for themselves to make a quick buck! Yesterday we decided to walk to Grand Palace to avoid getting ripped off by tuk, tuk drivers & taxi's and it didn't look far on the map. So we set off in our covered clothing to get into the palace so evidently cooked and got lost! We were approached by random thai walkers by who had lots of helpful advice to give, like it's closed today, you wont get in wearing that e.t.c. luckily we ignored them all cos they wanted to take us elsewhere in their taxi's or tuk-tuk's. So we got to the grand palace and looked around but something didn't seem right cos we weren't there we were at the sleeping buddha - Duh! Which was very interesting but finally got to the grand palace which was well worth the hassle as it was amazing. Jason had to borrow some lush trousers to get in! I looked like a fried egg as was so hot in my covered clothing.
At night Bangkok wakes up and goes mental, The main street of Khaosan road is alive with millions of street stalls, street entertainment and hasslers! Thinking of having my hair braided tonight so get ready for a laugh when we get photos up! Food's been ok, our stomach's have been good so far, maybe they toughened up in Egypt.
Today we were meant to be moving onto Ko Samet but the heavens have opened so we've decided to stay another night in Bangkok. When I say the heavens have opened it is torrential rain bouncing off everywhere, we went to exchange some money and got soaked, but thanks mum for the jacket as that kept me slightly dry.
