After our flight from Bali, we arrived in Taipei, Taiwan arround 7:30 am and had a 10 hour layover. We decided to make the best of our time and go do some exploring around Taipei. After some research, we found out the tallest skyscraper in the world, Taipei 101, happens to be in Taipei! We were excited to find out about this and were off to see it for ourselves. We exchanged some US dollars for some local currency and headed out of the airport. We had several options for transportation. We could have taken a cab, bus, or high speed rail system. We took the high speed railway of course! It was so fast. It reminded us of the Maglev that we rode in Shanghai.

Our stop on the railway was Taipei City Hall. About 5 stops from where we began. When we walked out of the train station we were unsure on which way to go so we asked a man on the corner of the street. He did not speak any english but he understood when we said Taipei 101. He did tell us to go this way and go that way, all he did was point. You could not miss it. It was so tall! We made our way to the tower. There is a mall that is located at the bottom of the building which had yet to open. We purchased our ticket and was headed to the top. Taipei 101 also has the fastest elevator in the world. We were on the 89th floor of the tower, at the observation deck, in 37 seconds! It was such a nice view of Taipei from atop the tower. We took a picture when we were up there also. 😊

We left the 101 and headed back to the airport just in time for our flight back to the USA!
