Finally I have made it to the last week of school. Im not quite sure how I survived 20 weeks of teaching. It is NOT one of the things I enjoy about Taiwan. For me, my brain checked out a few weeks ago and I wasnt sure I would sanly make it to my vacation. I have had many rough days when students told me I needed coffee or something cause I was in a bad mood. But teachers arent supposed to be nice every day. I have had a rought time making it thus far, I didnt even want to leave Hong Kong, but I am very excited for the 4 week vacation, to relax and recharge! If I didnt have this long I am not sure I could make it til July.
So my vacation offically starts on Friday at 4!!! I will chill and finish packing on Friday (not that i'll have much to pack, i'm only taking a backpack!) Saturday I will get on a train in the early afternoon and head to the airport. My flight leaves Taipei at 7:55pm, putting me in Bangkok at 10:40pm!!!!! I will stay over night in Bangkok then on Sunday
I will catch a 10am flight to Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. I will being stay at an orphanage there for a whole week working and spending time with the kids!! I am so excited about the opportunity to do this. My church from home helps support the orphanage. It will be a great time to see what they have done with the resources given to them. Of course it wont be all about kids as I will surely being going shopping, eating, getting $6 2 hours massages and the works. I thought at first I would be alone during this time but I have found out a girl from my church at home who I have not met will be there at the same time!!! We have been emailing alot so I am way excited to meet her and spend the week with her!! Then I will have a friend when I go back home! Its so weird tho cause she will have just seen my family when I see her, and I havent seen them in almost 6 months. I think we will have a great time together, from her emails we seem very similar and have alot of the same ideas......so we could be good or bad together! Who know I am excited to just GET OUT OF TAIWAN!
After my week in Chaing Mai, I will fly back to Bangkok to meet up with Mary. We will spend 2 nights in Bangkok then take and overnight train back up to Chiang Mai and go on a jungle trek! Then we will fly back to Bangkok and finally head to PARADISE. We will be spending 7 days on Koh Tao aka. PARADISE!!! We decided to forgo other traveling to maximize our time at the beach. It is vacation and we do still have to teach another 19 weeks when we get back so we need some serious rest and relaxation time! Needless to say I am pumped. I will return to Taiwan on Feb 16th just in time for the Chinese New Year to start on the 18th. I will travel around Taiwan and enjoy the celebrations!!!
This week at school many classes and teachers do things for the Chinese New Year and today we had a great lunch in my office with dumplings and delicous soup. I cant get used to this. Many classes are also cooking hot pot during lunch and invite me almost everyday or bring me a bowl of. I was going to loose weight this week or try since I have to wear a bikini in Thailand but I guess I cant do it, I love food too much.
Also today I recieved my first Chinese New Year gift complete with red envelope. The teacher who has basically taken me in as her daughter gave me a great gift! I got a pair of retractable chopsticks that everyone has that I could never find. Some candies, a beautiful chinese style box, a change purse and some money. There are reasons and meanings behind each gift and she took the time to explain what everything meant. I really meant alot to me, I'm not sure she understands, and Im not sure how to express my grattitude in the Chinese culture. Anyways is was so nice!
This will be my last entry until I am in Thailand. I hope I can post while I am there. But, I may be too busy having the time of my life!!!

Tell me about it. My old girlfriend was cold-blooded, even when she came out of her shell.
