We're kinda missing the family so we make weekly calls home via Skype or our Magic Jack phone. The family is large and there is a lot to say and hear. It helps make living in another country manageable. Here are some of the unique things about living in Taiwan. NO TIPPING! It's a long way down, and people move slowly when we meet on the path.

It's been blasted out of the side of the cliff, and often is not wide enough for vehicles to meet.

All along the way, there are tunnels, many with water leaking out of the rock.

They build little shrines or miniature homes for their deceased.

We just happened across this beach a few miles north of Hualien. We called it Pebble Beach as it had only rocks and pebbles on the shore.

The beach was lined with many different colored small rocks. ·It made walking barefoot very painful.

In the town of Hualien, they have even decorated the pillars under this railway bridge located by the sea.

Next day, the water was rough, and this is exactly what surfers enjoy.

Tis the season, at least this one is swinging north out to sea, and only brings clouds, and a bit of rain and wind

Notice how the road twists and turns, we drive hours only to get from one side of the gorge to the other.

The curves are so sharp and the road so narrow, they have these mirrors all along the way.

No trees up here, snow in the winter months. We are only maybe 20 miles from the coast, but are at over 10,000 feet altitude.

The West side of the mountain range is not as rugged and vertical as the East side.

Wow!!
Glad you two are having such a blast. Makes the blizzard of Sunday here seem rather inconsequential. Don't know if I could handle the traffic - particularly on a scooter!! Hope to see you when you get home. Keep smiling!! Cheers, Diane
