October 6th, 2013 We are now well settled, and know our way about somewhat. Days start here very early, as this culture gets up very early. By 5:30AM everyday the park across the street is lined with scooters driven by people who are already walking, stretching and exercising. Les, Linda and Dan brought 4 bicycles in the van, while Kevin joined us on the scooters to get to Dongang Ferry, about an hour south of Kaohsiung.

And we were happy about that....it was hot!!! We spent about 4 hours touring the tiny island.

There were a few short hiking trails leading to small caves. That gave us a nice break from scootering.

We spent about 4 hours touring and sightseeing and then had lunch at a little local outdoor restaurant.

We took a short hike along the coast line on tiny Liuqiu Island.

We were told they were circling the area with incense, music and firecrackers, scaring the ghosts away.

Enjoyed your blog and pictures and glad you we okay during the typhoon! We saw it on the news. The beach look amazing!! Weather at home has been okay. September was beautiful, October cool and we have had a few skiffs of snow.
