October 6th, 2013 We are now well settled, and know our way about somewhat. Days start here very early, as this culture gets up very early. By 5:30AM everyday the park across the street is lined with scooters driven by people who are already walking, stretching and exercising. We were all entertained by the traditional music and dancing! Two acrobats are under each lion. They leapt from pedestal to pedestal in the 40 degree heat!

There was a lot of work put into this spectacle. The ceremony was very important for the good fortune of the venture according to Taiwanese culture. The sand was covered in gold glitter!

These flowers were delivered to all the elementary home room teachers, courtesy of the class parents. Linda a received a large gold box full of cakes, cookies and snacks as well!

We are headed for Kenting Beach, about an hour and a half south of Kaohsiung. Looks like a poultry farm!

We love these little tiny restaurants, the food is delicious, the breeze was welcome, oh ya, from the fan, it is stinking hot here too!

Grace took a surfing lesson, so we headed to the beach to watch.

Enjoyed your blog and pictures and glad you we okay during the typhoon! We saw it on the news. The beach look amazing!! Weather at home has been okay. September was beautiful, October cool and we have had a few skiffs of snow.
