Taitung County - Chihpen Hot Springs

Part of our East-Coast road trip - Natural hot springs are found all over Taiwan. This one is one of the country's oldest and most famous. It was built by the Japanese when they discovered the healing effects the mineral water had on the aboriginees who soaked in them to relieve aching muscles and joint pain. Chihpen literally means 'source of wisdom'.
