Matsu, oh Matsu. This has to have been the first real vacation that I have taken in years. We didn't go on past two of the islands of Matsu but we went beyond our expectations. Everyday we woke up the view of the ocean complimented by a beautiful Gazebo. Matsu was calming, and adventurous. The island is really unique. Being the last stand of the old Chinese Government against Mao Zedong's, the island is covered with many abandoned military bases and artificial sea caves. Hills and turns and drops gave our riding exciting spins and speeds that I've never reached before. Though one hill on Begang Island destroyed us(Think 30minutes of steep up-hill Climbing) we found an artificial sea cave along the side to bike our way through on the way back. Kinmen - Taiwan During our dinner discussions with Hiroshi he mentioned to us an interesting thing. Apparently there is a tiny island East of China which belongs to Taiwan. You can reach Kinmen Island by boat in 1 hour from Xiamen city.... yes, Chris got very excited of having a chance to collect an additional country stamp in his passport... and it did not take for him much time to convince me that a break in Taiwan would do good to us, so next day after our rise on the nice pig and duck wake-up call melodies we headed to east instead of south to catch the last boat from Xiamen to Kinmen island (Jinmen is the chinese name).
