Our last day in Sri Lanka started with a breakfast overlooking the blue sea across the golden beach through Palm trees. We had seen amazing sites both Sri Lankan made and a British import (tesco). Time to reflect what a wonderful country Sri Lanka is. Our guide, Pradeep said it would only take no more than 30 minutes to drive to airport. But that same morning his holiness the Pope was arriving at our airport. We left our Hotel and encountered a traffic jam on the road to the airport. His holiness was on route to greet the people of Negombo
there were cars, motobikes, cycles and hundred of people walking to see the Pope. Our driver was asking the locals for other routes to get to the airport and had to use all the back doubles roads, lanes and local gardens to get there. I think the Pope's visit was more important than us getting to the airport. Finally arrived at airport to board a flight to the Maldives, our next destination.
