24th Feb – You might be wondering why we got up at 2am!? It was because we were going to climb Adam’s Peak. It was so busy because everybody wanted to see the sunrise. Also they think Buddha came down to earth from there, You aren’t a Buddhist if you haven’t climbed the mountain. We got halfway up and it took 5-hours so we decided to go back. There was a problem because people were coming up. It took about 2-hours to get back. It was so slow and you felt so squished. People were pushing you and standing on your feet. Five facts about Adam’s Peak; 1. There are 5200 steps to the top 2. It is a 7km climb up all the way 3. There are shops all the way up 4. People think butterflies go there to die. 5. There is a footprint of Buddha at the top. Sophie

It was packed with buses, tuk tuks, and cars. When we got in there were 100,000 people on the mountain because it was the weekend. We had a guide and he knew lots of shortcuts. When we got to the halfway there were so many people that we gave up (good choice). On the way down there were 6-people carrying 2 children on stretchers. Jonathan

Theological Corrections – It is believed that Adam first set foot on earth here, Buddha attained to Nirvana, also popular with Hindus and as a weekend party trip. All full moon days are a bank holiday and is this fell on a Monday, it was a long weekend and a total of 600,000 pilgrims visited over the 3-days. The Tuesday after we would have been up and down in 5-hours.
