APARTMENT SEARCH-This week has invited itself to outcomes that taught me patience, trust in God and self-control. We have found an apartment that we really liked last week. The landlord of the apartment on two occasions within two weeks time accepted the contract only to back out signing the final contract. I am reminded of those times in our lives when we become fearful of making a fiinal commitment. Is this out of intrinsic ego, lack of accountability or related to the fear of making the wrong choice? The saying, 'Run Forest Run', comes to mind. It is during these times my true colors become vivid. At first I felt a little down, then the more I thought about it the peaceful the situation became. God has a much bigger plan.
BIRTHDAY, Jan 10th-Our son Jeff celebrated his 28th Birthday in the U.S. I taped a special Happy Birthday song that was sung by the housekeeper and myself. See the attached video.
My week in general became a week of making some great personal connections here in Seoul.
TUE, Jan 11th I attended the Armed Forces Spouses Club (AFSC)and met some great ladies. There were vendors there selling various goods. This is where I got the handbag that is handmade in bright colors.
WED, Jan 12th-I was invited to share the day with a new friend and her name is Pam. She is full of energy, fun and really embraces this Korean culture. I met her little 3lb teacup poodle, Mojo. He is absolutely adorable. I cuddled and loved all over him. What a cuttie!!! She took me on a walking tour of Itaewon. As we were walking two young guys from a Navy ship were touring the area for a couple of hours. Pam graciously shared with us the store called Passions 5. This place had desserts and goodies that were out of this world. The architecture alone was inspiring. I definitely want to take my husband there to check this place out. We sent our thanks, blessings and good wishes to the two young men as they ventured to check out the ice cream. Pam and I were into the breads and sweets. I began taping Pam and I was told that this was against their policy. Luckily I had some footage before then so I have uploaded this video to share.
FRI., Jan 14th- We enjoyed drinks and dinner with my husbands boss Bruce, his wife Willie, Patrick & Susan and another wonderful couple. We met them at the Hyatt in Itaewon for drinks. We then walked down a slippery slope to an Italian Resturaunt. The wine kept coming and the Italian appetizers & food were amazing. It was nice to spend some time with friends.
SAT, Jan. 15th-We decided to search again this weekend. Dustin Kim and Michelle Lim from Asian Tigers Relocation picked us up and showed us several properties. Our blessing came when we found a 3 bedroom apartment in City Park on the 23rd Floor. It is abosultely stunning. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner. Now we will wait until next week to see if this works out. If not, no worries as something better will come into our path. Michelle also recommended this yummy place for lunch. We had dumpling soup and some type of kimchi pizza. Yummy!!!!
SUN.,Jan 16th-Stayed home. I cooked our first meal in the apartment, Goolash & it reminded me of home. Tears tend to creep in when I least expect it. Do not misunderstand me as this is the experience of a lifetime and would not trade the opportunity.
Next week will be another great week filled with new beginnings so stay tuned for the next chapter in my journey. Hugs to all!!
