"On August 16th, we flew to Singapore. There was a long time until we were to fly to Houston, Texas. Anyway, first we went to the Sentosa Island. When we got there, my dad got us tickets for the 4D ride, show and game. First was the game. I came in second place. Next was the long ride. It was awesome. We got a bit wet. Then we went to the show. That was my favorite. You get wet and it was windy. Finally, we went to the biggest ferris wheel in the world. First, we went to get our feet eaten by fish. It tickled. The ferris wheel was slow though. It was also an amazing view. Then we went back to the airport and that leaves me with........57 COUNTRIES! My Trip Top 12 List (Not in order) 1. Sofia journal entry Aug 16, 2013 Daddy's Comments: So it was time to leave Burma, and I was so happy that our frequent flyer miles placed us on Singapore Airlines, probably my favorite. Better yet, while 4-6 hour layovers are horrible, 14 hour layovers rock. We had taken advantage of these free
While not my favorite part, I decided that Sofia would love Sentosa Island. While we did not hit up Universal Studios, when she wanted to hit the 4D attractions, I could not refuse. I thought that 2 of the 3 were not that impressive, but one was very cool. She loved them. Then, we took the cable car back to the mainland and went to my favorite "hawker center" for dinner - Maxwell Rd Hawker Center - for some delicious food.

We then took a taxi to the Singapore Flyer. The biggest ferris wheel in the world
was something I did not do during my previous stay. The 30 minute ride was very relaxing and offered incredible views of the city. However, while Sofia did like the ride, she much preferred the "spa" we went to right before getting on. I had told her about when I had been there before I had the dead skin off my feet eaten by tiny fish which tickled quite a bit. This fish was featured in a show that she used to watch where everyone got sick after having this done. I had assured her then that this cannot happen, and she was willing and wanting to try. She absolutely loved it. It tickled quite a bit. Obviously my feet have a lot more dead skin, as the fish would not pay much attention to her feet until I would take my feet out of the water.
It was then time to head back to the airport, collect our belongings and relax at the airport. She watched a movie at the airport and then we boarded our long flight back to the USA. I did not know until boarding that our flight to Houston actually stopped in Moscow. So
a 2 hour stop in Moscow followed by a 4 hour stop in Houston, and then arrived in Miami little after midnight on Saturday/Sunday right before the beginning of 3rd grade.

It was an incredible trip with Sofia. She truly is an awesome travel partner and I cherish every moment I have travelling with her. I have seen her grow from being "there for the ride" in my backpack, to being part of the decision maker and fully interacting with all the sights and people. (not that she did not interact with people while travelling when she was a baby/toddler) From her adventurous eating habits and liking of spicy food, her interest in new cultures and interaction with locals, it has been an absolute pleasure watching her soak it all in. The eye opening experience of being excluded from activities (ie putting gold on Buddha, entering a certain area of a temple) just because she was a girl I think will help shape her views on sexism (she was pissed!). Her seeing how happy the orphan girls where in Mandalay without many material items, their reaction to Sofia's gifts, and how people such
as the Buddhist nuns gave of themselves to ensure their happiness will hopefully show Sofia some important lessons in life.
I look forward to our next trips, and we already have a lot lined up for next year.....Dominican Republic for a long weekend with friends in November, back to Italy with bro Vitor in March where we will spend a weekend also in one of my favorite small countries, Slovenia, and then our next summer trip already in the making - Brasil for the World Cup, Sofia's second world cup. With having friends and family there, it will make for an incredible trip and we have 3 teams to root for - USA, Italy and Brasil, all who have qualified.
