Day One
The morning started fairly normal for a “DeLuca Vacation” Rich woke up sick to his stomach, and coughing...he immediately poured us some airborne that according to Rich we had to drink to maintain our health.....I did mention that Rich is Global Healthy and safety Manager for GE Healthcare ...right Trips are always exciting ! I was thinking champagne at least it was bubbly!
As usual Rich had a very important conference call that was to begin at precisely the time our dear friend Jackie Dorsey was going to arrive to bring us to the airport....such great friends.
Jackie and I enjoyed our ride to the airport whispering as not to disturb Rich on his conference call that appeared at sometimes to become heated....all in a good way of course.. As we reached the Atlanta International Airport and started removing our luggage from the car ....Rich while still on phone......screams “where is my brief case.!”..During the commotion of leaving while on the phone and dealing with his stomach issues he had left it on the turn around at our condo pick up area. Of course his passport was in his briefcase which made check in impossible. I

Rich loves that we are traveling to the city of SIN was very proud of
Rich because he didn't blame me, you know it is always the wives fault.
Jackie went into full action............she called Tom! “Tom we have a situation here.” Tom runs down stairs (they live in same condo building) rescues the bag and has a great excuse to use that BMW 500 series to its full potential...he is at the airport briefcase in hand in a half hours time. What would we do without friends although I think Rich maybe hearing about this one for quite sometime over a good cigar and a glass of Jamison
We finally were able to check in and headed to our gate for our 14 hour trip from Atlanta to Tokyo ...slight delay and we are on our way. Rich and I had chosen a window and an aisle seat which on this plane meant we had a seat mate for this portion of our trip. Vicki settled in to the middle seat and of course Rich made friends very quickly. She was from Tennessee on her way to the Philippines to see her brother marry his girlfriend of seven years. He had been trying for years to have her move to the US for the ceremony but Immigration laws are very strict and he has been unsuccessful. His hope is now that they will be married the US will be able to assist him in bringing his wife home.
Vicki had a very interesting story. Her husband was a 20 year US Army service man and served over in Iraq in 2002 soon after 911. At the same time her son and her brother were also there. Her husband is now retired but works for a company that contracts to the US Army and he is actually in Iraq again to service the computers on helicopters. His year is up in November. She busied herself through out the trip crocheting a baby blanket for her new grandson.
After landing in Tokyo were caught the flight for the second leg of our trip an additional seven hours and we should be in Singapore. We land in Singapore at 2:00am local time but 2:00 pm our time we are hoping that our short cat naps will allow us the ability to sleep upon our arrival and wake up ready to explore.
