Hi everyone reading my first "real" blog about Singapore The flight was all good and got a little sleep. I went very quickly through customs etc, since the place was almost deserted at 2.30am, and stepped out of the airport building into an oven even though it was the middle of the night! Hi from Dee. I’ve taken a year’s leave from my job of more than 25 year’s teaching and am preparing to set off on my “Big OE”; better late than never! This is a practise, with instructions from son Dan who is an experienced traveller/blogger, to make sure I can work the “Travel Blog” OK before I leave New Zealand on 26th Feb 2006. The photo is me with Dan and Emma yesterday at "Groove in the Park" in Auckland Domain. I hope to visit internet cafes and update weekly but will have to work that one out when I’m on the road. A sculpture I liked.

The horse hatching from the egg represented something which I won't try to explain now but was cool.

My hostel

I stayed in the Catholic Waterloo Hostel right in the middle of town so I could easily walk everywhere.

After dinner we went on the Night Safari at the Zoo which was great. Got the closest I'll ever get to the big cats!

Sentosa Island which is like a holiday resort.

This is a show on Sentosa Island with music and laser lights and pretty fountains.

An area frequented by the sailors in the early days and now a bustling nught market.

Sorry, forgot its name. Anyway it smells bad and the big new theatre in earlier photos is modelled on it.

If you get the chance to shop in little India call at Mousaffa Mousaffa a huge department store and very cheap.

Loved the photos Dee. The buildings look fascinating with all their different styles. Look forward to hearing about the horse coming out of the egg when you get back. Look forward to the next leg. Thanks for the wine, glad the car was of use.

Hey Dee That bad smelling fruit in Singapore is Durian hope you tried it a mix between garlic and banana maybe??
