I am in Changi Airport right now getting ready to board my flight to Bangkok. I did blow my wad last night. I went to the riverfront area had tapas there and mojito, and afterward went to a bar 70 stories high. I spent about 50 dollars on food and drinks, but it was worth it for the views.
A good friend of mine has once explained to me that he doesn't accept this whole notion of nibbling of small foods. I, on the other hand, do enjoy on nibbling on things. I ordered a mojito, which was overly sweet but strong, chorizo, which was tasty and meaty, calamari, which was tender, and gambas de ajo, which was spicy. Funny those would be the same adjectives that would describe the women I like, too. The calamari was served with this tartar type sauce, which I thought was kind of odd. I really don't like white creamy sauces in my mouth. Or on my face for that matter. The ride up 70 stories took less than a minute and my ears popped coming up and back down. The bar I went to was actually like a lounge with a piano, singer,
dark lights, comfy chairs, and model waitresses in black dresses. The only thing that sucked was that since the city is so damn humid, the windows had some condensation on it, so I couldn't see too well outside.
I also saw a lot of sausages the past couple of days. I ate chorizo, a Spanish and Mexican sausage, I went through Chinatown where I saw a store devoted to selling some weird flat sheets of sausages, and saw a booth selling weinersnichel, a German sausage. To spare you, I will refrain from inserting any jokes here about the Chinese sausage I have....in my pants.
On a more serious note, I saw some amazing temples and religious buildings with ceremonies going on inside. Yesterday while in Chinatown, I saw a Buddhist ceremony and chanting. The day before, I saw two Hindu temples with different kind of ceremonies and chanting. Then the day before that I checked out a Muslim mosque, but there were only a few dudes praying there. I wish there was some ceremonies, chanting, and missionary stuff going on my bedroom last night, but I couldn't get any of the waitresses to go down 70 stories with
me.
I also stopped by a food stall center, and walked past the Bread Pit. I kid you not, that's the name of this bakery. Since it was Sunday night, the Bread Pit was not very open. When is he ever, except with Angelina.
Today, I went to this island resort/entertainment center called Sentosa Island, which was pretty fun and not very expensive at all. I went to this luge thing, where you take a ski lift type thing up this tall hill, then you take a luge down. The island contains a ton of other things to do. The only ones I actually went to were the beach, Fort Silosa, and an aquarium. The aquarium had an attached day spa where you could stick your feet into a pond, and these little fishes or minnows actually eat up your dead skin. I looked forward to having my feet nibbled on, but the place was closed when I got there.
Fort Silosa is pretty cool if you're a history buff like me. It is also quite cheesy because it definitely has a Pirates of the Caribbean feel to it with animatronic soldiers throughout trying to recreate life
in the fort during the Japanese invasion of World War II. There was this huge cannon that I couldn't resist straddling and having my picture taken with. But being alone, it was difficult to take the photo by myself. And the place was fairly dead, so I had to wait a while before anyone showed up in the area. Finally, this middle-aged Asian or Pacific Islander couple came by, and I asked them to take my picture. They did not seem very amused with my thoroughly unoriginal, immature and inappropriate pose. But they snapped the shot for me, which is all that really matters. Too bad Captain Jack Sparrow wasn't around.
On that random note, I am going to wait for my stupid plane. Time to sweat my ass off in another country.
