Hi all,

Have now left Samui and we are in Singapore. We both really loved Koh Samui, lovely surroundings, people, bars, restaurants and atmosphere. A breath of fresh air after Bangkok... On our last night at Samui was Pompey's 1st UEFA game, we thought it would be on at 2am though so thought we'd bedda give it a miss due to flying out the next day. Headed out around 6pm and thought we would visit Bellini again, its a very classy italian restaurant down a side road off Chaweng Beach Road (think i mentioned it before...francesco is the owner). Had a lovely meal once again and some wine and beer, strolled along chaweng nipping in for a pint or a sneaky cocktail at the bars we passed by. We saw the fixtures at a sports bar and noticed that the pompey game KO was actually midnight, excellent...so we headed to pompey nicks (pfc bar) around 11.30...sadly no pompey shirt this time but stil got the same reception from Pompey Nick. Awesome, watched the game and it was a gooden :-) we won again, noticed that obviously we should have watched the man city game in samui after our 6-0 thrashing. every win for pompey gets u a free round of drinks at pfc bar, just bout to finish our drinks when we got chatting to a couple of couples(!) infront of us...turned out they were from wymering and now live in purbrook - small world! georgie used to work at purbrook junior, we had a few 'mutual friends' it was awesome to chat about home and see faces from home! after more drinks and chatting we found ourselves strolling back to our hotel around 4am..oops, flight 2moro!

however hung over we made it on our flight and were fascinated by Koh samui airport! turn up, luggage gets x-rayed, check in at one of 10 desks, then go to the gate which is one of the many beach huts! strolled round the shops before hand, eyed up some rather nice Salvatore Ferragamo sunnies and chilled out at the sports bar (where else?!) upstairs.

flight was only 1hr 30mins, got chatting next to a girl from Thailand next to me, Yok (silent k). She now lives in Singapore with her french partner. Was really good to chat to, the flight took no time and was really interesting to talk to. - will try and find you on facebook Yok! and will send u an email about Oz. :-)

Ok, arrived in Singapore late on the 19th...got to our hostel and chilled. Hostel is very good, has only been open since 1st august this year. Very clean, plenty of bathrooms and free internet! (having a catch up this morning!). William the manager here is very good, picked his brains last night :-)

The 1st day we went to Orchard Road, just endless shopping malls! heaven! however have to curb my shopping due to cash and space in our backpacks! had a beer in clark quay that evening (hooters!) and then some street food.

Yesterday we had a great day at Singapore Zoo, i am not too keen on captured animals etc but this zoo was very impressive, most animals (bar tigers etc.) were free in the surroundings of tall trees. Went to a few shows, very good...loved the spidermonkey.

The night safari was awesome too, took a 45 minute (open!) tram ride around a rainforest type place, heard lions roar and passed an elephant right up close, as it is dark u get to see noctournal animals getting up to antics as in their own habitats. the zoo have really done a good job here. deffo recommend!

Today we are heading to Raffles, singapore sling @ long bar. Have got a few places to visit recommended by William. Chimes, a converted cathedral (now has bars and restaurants, but is still a working cathedral!)....gonna visit the tallest hotel for a view of singapore, erm an undergruond mall, fountain of wealth (worlds biggest fountain).

Will hopefully keep you all updated again soon.

Take care all and hope 2 hear from you shortly.

Love jo and dan xx
